Negro literally means “black” (it comes from Spanish/Portuguese negro). In the United States, “Negro” was also a historical English label used for Black people—common in older documents, schools, and civil rights-era writing. Today it’s considered dated, so we use it intentionally and thoughtfully: as a nod to history, while building something that moves us forward with power, dignity, and control of our own narrative.

Fidelity means faithfulness, loyalty, and trustworthiness—the idea of showing up consistently and keeping your word. For us, it’s the promise that this platform is built with integrity: verified listings, real community value, and a commitment to helping Black-owned businesses and families thrive.

So NegroFi is the idea of Black + Fidelity: a trusted, connected ecosystem designed to help us find, support, hire, and circulate dollars on purpose.
